There is Global Gutz in 2009! It will manifest in Toronto as it will in many, many cities all over the world! The world winner will fly to TOKYO! to compete in the CMWC 2009!
I suppose if you know what to do that you know what to do! Surefire fun!

It may look like things have been quiet around here, but we’ve merely been revving up the new stuff for your summer urban cycling pleasure!
We’ve been promising a slimmed-down version of our hip pouch for some time, and now it’s in production!

The Slim Pouch is a simple, low profile pouch that’s perfect for carrying a few necessities on a day out. Adjust the strap to sling it across your chest or around your hips, or remove it entirely to toss the pouch in a larger bag or carry as a clutch. Stash some cash, cards and energy bars for your morning ride, and still have all you need to lounge on the patio all afternoon.
This one was a thought up on a bit of a whim, but it’s turned out to be indispensable!

The Stoat is a catchall purse/tote based on the Lost Weekender, that’s just the right size for your daily needs. It sits lightly on the shoulder for wandering around town, and plops easily into a bike basket for casual cruising to the farmers market.
That’s right folks, tonight’s your last chance to take in the Thursday night Velosocial, hosted by the indomitable Sunny D (check out her chick hop stylings at www.myspace.com/sunnyd) hosting as usual.

Lots of great music, drinks specials etc at the Augusta House (152 Augusta in Kensington Market) starting at 9pm (they’ve also got great pad thai & wonton soup, so you can get your eat on while you’re there!).

Rumour has it that Velosocial isn’t really disappearing but will be evolving into another form, possibly in conjunction with Pedestrian Sundays? Keep your ear to the ground, your nose in the air and your eyes on this space to catch the first news of the next Velosocial!
Check it out! Those cool folks at messengerbag.jp are featuring us in an interview!
They’ve also got several other interviews with some great companies and individuals, so if you don’t read Japanese it’s worth your time to get friendly with an online translator.
Be sure to check out the rest of the site too for a well-presented Japanese perspective on the messenger bag phenomenon.
Don’t miss the party next Thursday! Velosocial is back May 14th at the Augusta House, 152A Augusta in Kensington Market.
DJ’s and cyclists from all over town get together and have a good time with $5 Amsterdam on tap and drink specials. That’s right, it’s 19 and up, be sure to “Walk it or Lock it” if you plan to get blotto.

Open mic with prizes, stuff to check out at the stuff table, and remember the Augusta House has some kick-ass food if you get the munchies! At the last Velosocial we heard that SunnyD is going to the CMWC in Tokyo, Japan courtesy of Velosocial sponsor and now SunnyD sponsor Jason Wood of Crumpler Canada. Congratulations SunnyD! If you’ve got something going on and wanted a bunch of different cycling people to know about it, announcing it at the Velosocial would be a good start. Come on by after your bike polo practice or whatever you are doing and have a good time.

Big thanks to SunnyD and her many wonderful sponsors for bringing everyone the Velosocial!
This Friday there will be a ride after work to benefit a friend that had a bit of a spill and needs a new grill! Did you say “Grill”? Yeah there’s a BBQ after the ride, so come out before Critical Mass and have some fun while helping out. There will be other fun stuff to raise money too including an auction featuring cool donated stuff from Wipt Clothing and others supporting the effort! Meet at Trinity Bellwoods in the big bowl, around 5:30pm on Friday, April 24th.

Check out the Toothfairy Facebook Page
Cowhunt #1 is an urban adventure team event taking place this Saturday, April 25th. It’s a fundraiser for Camraderie, a new concept workspace for freelance professionals and start-ups. I’ve never been on an urban adventure before, read the event page posted above, it sounds pretty wild!

Also this Saturday if you find yourself in Cincinatti, Ohio check out the Earth Day festivities that include a local alleycat, check local listing for when and where!
Under the Weather is happy to support local efforts and rides when we can, we get lots of requests but don’t stop sending them if we can’t always contribute. We’re proud to support the above adventures with some prizes and stuff to make it more fun. Thanks for asking!
That’s right, April Velosocial is rollin’ around this Thursday the 9th at the Augusta House. This event has developed into a great night of fun, and with Friday being a holiday there’s really no reason to stay home Thursday night! The weather’s supposed to be clear and dry, so ride on over – we’ll see you there!

Come hang out with your friends and cycling fans from all over TO and every different cycling style (except the under 19 set, cause it’s a bar and the whole 19+ thing applies). The Augusta House has a great bar and a fabulous menu if your ride over leaves you feeling peckish. Don’t miss it.

Big thanks to SunnyD for bringing everyone the Velosocial!
are special. Whether it is because they are a different size than any of our standard models or have different pockets, features, wildly different artwork or any of that, they are special. When they are so special they don’t fit into any category they need a place to be so we created the Special Items page to keep them in!
We have bags that are special for different reasons, these will be listed in there too. For instance, for the next few months we will be posting bags specifically to draw attention to the North American Cycle Courier Championships 2009 in Boston! Every dollar goes to the NACCC to make throwing a big event better for the Boston crew, that will make the NACCC that much better for all of the messengers and cycling lovers going there this summer to party and race.
So if you were considering a new messenger bag, but wanted to do something to support some messenger or cycling event somewhere in the world then you can do both here at Under the Weather! Spread the velo everybody!
Anaïs recently created a new t-shirt just for spring, a pretty and friendly message of velo for everyone!
There are a few limited prints, styles and sizes available on sustainable American Apparel t-shirts including some organic choices. You can see them here on the T-shirt page
We will print more as soon as we get a chance, we hope you like them! Make velo, not car! ©
