“Under the weather” is a nautical term referring to serving watch on the weather side of the ship, exposed to wind and spray. Cyclists in general, and bicycle messengers in particular, are similarly subject to and in need of protection from all the weather conditions through which we travel.
 

Under The Weather was started by Anaïs Fritzlan in a minuscule apartment in Amsterdam in late 2000. Relocated to Toronto in late 2001, it has expanded significantly, though remains a very personal, hands-on business. We produce all of our professional quality messenger bags, backpacks and accessories and screen-printed all of our t-shirts in our own small workshop. Our skirt and pants (now out of production) were originally made entirely on site until 2005 when we contracted assembly to a local sewing company a few blocks away, then brought the pants and skirts back to our workshop for finishing. Though we appreciate the incredibly warm reception we have received from everyone for our technical clothing designs, we will continue to focus on messenger bags and accessories made from the best materials with the best construction. In spring of 2011 we moved to rural Eastern Ontario, at the same time expanding our business to include purses and other accessories available on our Etsy store.

Our goal is to provide aesthetically well-designed, technically superb products and provide excellent customer service. We take pride in doing everything we can to ensure that each of our customers gets what they desire. Our products are built to withstand heavy use, and we will repair or replace anything that does not live up to the demands of functionality.
